Turning Plans into Action: Delivering High-Impact Infrastructure Projects
From Climate Risk to Council-Ready Capital Projects
November - December 2026
Overview: This course is designed to help public infrastructure owners translate climate adaptation plans into shovel-ready and fundable capital projects. Building on an understanding of local climate change impacts in New Brunswick, the program focuses on how to prioritize climate risks, scope feasible adaptation projects, and advance them through the capital planning and approval process.
The program is delivered through short online eLearning modules followed by an intensive in-person workshop. Participants will explore climate and social impacts, project scoping and feasibility, nature-based solutions, and First Nation engagement in the context of climate adaptation infrastructure projects. The in-person workshop emphasizes applied learning, guiding participants through the development of a climate adaptation project business case suitable for Council review and approval. By the end of the program, participants will have produced a completed climate adaptation project business case and strengthened their ability to move from strategic planning to tangible, high-impact infrastructure investments.
